Main duties of the job

About the Role

As a key member of the Substance Misuse Service, you’ll lead on mental health assessments and care for residents with dual diagnosis needs. You’ll work autonomously, managing your own caseload, and collaborate closely with the prison’s mental health team, psychosocial services, and wider healthcare colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering specialist clinical and mental health interventions
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and risk evaluations
  • Administering medication and opioid substitution therapy
  • Supporting service development and continuous improvement
  • Supervising junior staff and contributing to team leadership
  • Promoting trauma-informed care and health education

Working for our organisation

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.

Be Part of Something Bigger

If you’re ready to lead with compassion and make a lasting impact in a unique healthcare setting, we’d love to hear from you.
