Job overview

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer a newly Commissioned  role as a Senior Speech and Language therapist across our secured services. This two year fixed term role  will develop and embed a robust clinical pathway and have strategic oversight across 5  sites in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. You will work independently as well as part of the wider team of clinical pathway leads and senior management team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to shape the delivery of speech and language in prison services and provide meaningful positive outcomes for patients

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of your own car for business purposes is essential due to the requirement to travel to various sites. As the role is based across a wide area, bas site is negotiable.

Main duties of the job

To provide expert specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment programmes to individual adult patients. The role is an autonomous practitioner, holding your own complex case load of those with swallowing and communication needs; working independently and within the context of a multi-disciplinary team. You will design and  provide education, guidance and support to our healthcare teams and ensure that staff are equipped to signpost and provide relevant guidance to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

The role will hold strategic responsibility in developing, embedding, and evaluating a robust speech and language pathway within our secured environments; ensuring that policies and protocols reflect current best practice and provide training as required.
