Full time Consultant Psychiatrist.

The post holder will provide psychiatrist outpatient care for adults aged 18-65 in the Wellingborough and East Northants CMHT 

Main duties of the job

         Provide clinical leadership to the team and take clinical responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.

         Clinics for assessing new referrals, medication reviews for patients in the team and reviews. 

         Supervision of MDT colleagues around cases they are managing

         Oversee the medication and care of patients in the depot and clozapine clinics

         Undertake Mental Health Act assessments on patients from within the sector

         Be the Responsible Clinician for patients detained under a Community Treatment Order

  • • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

  • • Willingness to undertake training and CPD in areas appropriate to this post

Knowldege and Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Full GMC Registration
  • • On Specialist Register) for General Adult Psychiatry or eligible for inclusion within six months.
  • • Approval under Section12 of the Mental Health Act.
  • Approved Clinician status (? or eligible within six months- to match the specialist register requirement above)
Desirable criteria
  • • Additional Postgraduate Qualifications
  • • Publication of original research
  • • Management training

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • • Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels.
  • • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences including courts and tribunals
  • • Ability to motivate and develop other medical colleagues and other MDT members
  • • To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole
  • • An understanding of the political and financial framework within which the Services operate
  • • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • • Post holder will need to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner.
Desirable criteria
  • • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
  • • Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post
  • • Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation
