Cleaning Services Team Leader

Job overview
The post holder will work as a member of the Cleaning Service team and will be responsible for the day to day operational supervision of a large number of Cleaning Service Assistants, split across a large site providing a 24/7 service, thus ensuring the promotion of a high- quality cleaning service supporting patients, visitors and staff. In line with the National Standards of cleanliness within a healthcare setting 2021.
The post holder will report to the Assistant Facilities Manager (AFM) for the respective zone and will support the department in delivery of national, regional and local cleaning directives in an ever-changing NHS landscape.
The post holder will be responsible for the monitoring of cleaning standards via audit, quality assurance checks and service review.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that a high standard of cleaning is continuously provided to patients, visitors and staff members across all site facilities 24/7.
Main duties of the job
Amongst other responsibilities the postholder will be required to maintain excellent working relationships via email, face to face meetings and phone calls with key stakeholders such as Infection Prevention and Control teams, (ICPT) Clinical Colleagues, Estates Colleagues and all external providers of good and services.
Reporting any signs of pests to the relevant department or contractor, via email, and phone.
Liaising with ward and department staff, patients, visitors in relation to complaints or concerns being raised.
Communicating with wards and department clinical staff informing them of any changes to the service.
Supporting clinical colleagues by giving advice on cleaning processes and procedures, providing appropriate support on queries, and complaints.
Give feedback to staff with regard to their performance and where required source additional training to help support and encourage staff members.
Support the FM and AFM’s in delivering cleaning services team briefings, to include current issues and providing relevant information as appropriate, delivering monthly Tool Box Talks to all staff.
Contribute to the maintenance of a culture of engagement that involves staff in decisions on how the services are provided
Report any non-compliance to their zonal AFM.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring high standards of cleanliness are achieved in line with Trust targets, Trust Policies, cleaning services Sop’s, cleaning service schedules and work plans.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired through vocational qualification level 3, City and Guilds or equivalent plus additional knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma or equivalent level
- Knowledge of work procedures, practices and equipment for a cleaning service
- Knowledge of COSSH procedures
- Basic Computer Skills
Desirable criteria
- Technical knowledge of cleaning processes
- Knowledge of audits and surveys
- Ability to deliver technical cleaning related training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing a large number of staff
- In-depth knowledge of various administrative procedures, policies, and regulations to ensure efficient and effective work processes.
- Able to apply problem-solving skills to navigate non-routine tasks, complex issues, and unexpected situations that may arise in the work area.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the Trust Infection Control policy
- Previous knowledge of Hydrogen peroxide decontamination machines
- Worked in a similar position within a healthcare environment.
Communication & Relationship
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively where there may be barriers to understanding
- Ability to receive and provide routine information both orally and in writing to colleagues, patients and clients
- Ability to receive deal with complex and sensitive information in relation to staff and job task
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
