Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join the Theatre Department at Newark Hospital.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic individuals to become part of our well-established and supportive team. Ideal candidates will bring experience in scrub, anaesthetics, and/or recovery, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Our Newark site comprises three day-case theatres, a minor operations suite, and a procedure room, offering exposure to a wide variety of specialties including Urology, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Elective Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Dermatology, and Pain Management. The role also includes participation in our on-call rota to support intra- and inter-hospital transfers. On occasion, you may be required to work at our Kings Mill Hospital site, providing further opportunities for development.
Staff development is one of our highest priorities. You will work closely with our Clinical Educator and speciality leads to access comprehensive training aligned with NMC/HCPC standards. We are committed to ensuring all competency packs and our skills matrix remain current, supporting you to grow and advance in your career.
Our team is expanding, and we are excited to welcome new colleagues who are ready to make a real impact. We look forward to receiving your application and supporting you on a rewarding and fulfilling career journey.

Working for our organisation
We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.
We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
