Job overview

As Digital PMO Support Officer you will provide portfolio, programme and project management administrative support to the Digital PMO Leadership Team. Reporting to the Digital Transformation Programme Manager you will be responsible for providing professional and efficient administrative support to the team enabling the delivery of successful digital projects.

This role will provide you with an interesting and supported introduction to the application of project procedures, tools and techniques and you will be important to maintaining the standards for project activity across the team.

This is a varied and interesting role within a friendly, supportive and talented team where you will be able to access development opportunities and play an integral role in supporting the delivery of important NHS projects.

Main duties of the job

As Digital PMO Support Officer you will provide portfolio, programme and project management administrative support to the Digital PMO Team. This role will provide you with an interesting and supported introduction to the application of project procedures, tools and techniques and you will be important to maintaining the standards for project activity within the team. 

You will be key to ensuring effective communication with the business, often acting as the first point of contact for project management enquiries from all parts of the organisation.  You will become a subject matter expert in the organisation’s project management tools, techniques, systems and processes, playing an active role in improvement activity.  You will maintain central programme and portfolio level records and produce regular management reports.

You will assist the project managers by providing administrative support for meetings involving accurate recording of minutes and action notes and timely circulation of papers, generating reports, and maintaining effective audit trails, version control and tracking processes.

You will assist the Digital PMO leadership team in building on existing work to establish and embed consistent project delivery with the ambition of the organisation achieving Level 3 Project Maturity.

The Digital PMO (Programme Management Office) at EMAS has oversight and responsibility for delivery of the organisation’s portfolio of digitally enabled projects.  The key outcomes of the Digital PMO are to improve organisational accountability, decision-making, transparency, and visibility in relation to the portfolio of digitally enabled change.

The Digital PMO will ensure that the right projects/programmes are launched; consistency of delivery through standards and processes and those things are done well and right first time by providing oversight of and support to projects.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • General Education up to GCSE / A Level or equivalent NVQ level (including Maths and English).
  • Qualification in PMO such as P3O Foundation.
  • Working knowledge of project delivery and project governance.
  • Maintenance of enterprise PMO system and information libraries, databases and resources.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of project change control processes.
  • Understanding of project management specialist competencies including risk management, planning/scheduling, change control and project governance.
  • Skilled in using project planning tools such as Microsoft Project.
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in project management such as APM Project Foundations or PRINCE2 Foundation qualification.
  • Project planning competencies, including estimating and scheduling, including critical path analysis
