The East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) provides Emergency, Urgent and Non-Emergency pre-hospital care and transport across six counties (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire & Rutland and Northamptonshire).
Job overview
The post will be at the forefront of providing a comprehensive and professional wellbeing and inclusion service to the managers and employees of the Trust with a particular focus on staff engagement and wellbeing activities; therefore an ability to build good working relationships is pivotal.
Through excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills you will be responsible for and advise on a variety of engagement matters including Staff Survey, Quarterly Pulse Surveys, Reward and Recognition and general People matters ensuring that the organisation is a leader in these areas and demonstrates best practice.
You will be responsible for the development of key policies and procedures and project work linked to staff engagement that will ensure that the People Strategy is delivered and EMAS is viewed as a leader in these key areas and an employer of choice.
Main duties of the job
- To support the delivery of the Trust’s People Strategy with particular focus on the areas of staff engagement, health, and wellbeing
- .Support the Senior Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisor with key projects and deliverables including the health and wellbeing agenda, the annual Flu vaccination campaign and the achievement of the Trust and national targets
- Develop and review key policies and procedures relating to staff engagement / health and wellbeing.
- To coordinate and take minutes/actions arising from the Occupational Health Service Review meeting.
- Support the contract monitoring of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services contract to ensure it is being delivered to the service specification.
- Lead the Trust’s annual staff survey/pulse survey process with support from divisional/service area HR Teams to co-ordinate the process and work with Divisional Senior leadership teams to increase the Trusts overall response rate and develop and implement local action plans.
- To work in partnership with the Communications Team to promote health and wellbeing, staff survey, pulse survey and other initiatives to enhance staff engagement and promote positive health and wellbeing of the workforce.

Essential criteria
- CIPD qualification (or prepared to study)
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Proven track record of operating in an operational HR/Wellbeing environment
- Experience of advising managers on staff engagement
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Excellent understanding of contemporary HR/wellbeing practices
- Proven experience of operating in an operational HR environment in recruitment, discipline, grievance, absence management and equality and diversity in a complex setting
- Knowledge and understanding of key NHS issues including national and local policy drivers
- Up to date knowledge of employment legislation related to core employment/equality issues
- Experience of working in partnership with Trade Unions or staffing representatives
- Able to research, interpret and present complex information in a clear and logical manner
- Project Management experience and delivering projects within timescales
- Design, development and delivery of training courses
