Job overview

The General Practitioner Non‑Executive Director (GP NED) will play a key role in the governance and clinical leadership of Nottingham City GP Alliance (NCGPA).
Acting as an independent advisor to the Board, the GP NED will bring front‑line general practice insight, clinical credibility and professional judgement to support safe, high‑quality and sustainable primary care across Nottingham.
The post‑holder must be a General Practitioner working at a shareholding NCGPA member practice.
The GP NED will chair the Clinical Governance and Quality Board Committee, providing leadership and assurance on quality, safety and improvement. They will also provide Board‑level oversight of research and education activity, in partnership with the Medical Director, and hold responsibilities allocated as part of the agreed governance and regulatory nominations that support NCGPA’s service activities.
NEDs are expected to challenge constructively, offer fresh perspectives and provide balanced, independent judgement as equal members of the Board.
This role is part‑time and requires attendance at:
•    Quarterly Board meetings
•    Quarterly Clinical Governance and Quality Committee meetings
•    Development discussions and occasional additional meetings
Meetings may be held in person or virtually.
