We are proud to announce that Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Anthony Nolan have recently joined forces to facilitate the UK’s first Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre. Our new partnership enables the expansion of life-saving stem cell collection services in the UK and creates opportunities to develop research programmes in the future. 

As the Apheresis Specialist Nurse, you will be based at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, within the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Centre, hosted by the Clinical Research Facility.

You will work closely with the Apheresis Nurse Manager and the CCC Lead Nurse to provide all aspects of clinical care for patients and stem cell donors.

You will work as part of a highly skilled specialist team acting as a source of clinical expertise.  

Clinical Practice

 Take responsibility for the care of donors/patients requiring specialist apheresis procedures under the guidance of the Apheresis Nurse Manager.

Competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for donors/patients.

  Deliver the apheresis service on behalf of Anthony Nolan, in accordance with apheresis service guidelines and assess, treat and refer donors/patients to other members of the clinical team as required.

Remain current and up to date with clinical protocols and best practice, maintaining specialist knowledge of apheresis.

Be competent in the care and management of peripheral venous catheters, central venous catheters, venepuncture, cannulation, intravenous drug administration, apheresis and blood product administration in accordance with the guidelines for clinical practice.

 Ensure all elements of the donor/patient clinical pathway are understood and delivered successfully, including, safe administration of treatments and medications.
