A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic registered children's nurse to work within the Nottingham Children's  Pain Management team

The vacancy currently is available on a 6 month secondment.

The successful candidate will join a well established multidisciplinary team working collaboratively to deliver holistic and evidence based pain care across Nottingham Children Hospital.

Main duties of the job

As a 'Pain Clinical Nurse Specialist'  you will play a pivotal role in assessing, managing and co-ordinating evidence-based pain management strategies across inpatient wards at Nottingham Children's Hospital.

You will work closely with paediatricians, anaesthetists, psychologists and allied health professional to ensure the best possible outcomes for your young patients.

  • Deliver expert nursing input into pain assessment and management plans across Nottingham Children's Hospital.
  • Support the development of individualised care pathways for children and young people.
  • Provide advice, training and support to nursing and medical colleagues, patients and their families.
  • Contribute to the development, audit and review of clinical guidelines and pain service improvements.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Child
  • Demonstrable teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Non-medical prescribing.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up to date clinical knowledge of general paediatrics
  • • Demonstrate professional autonomy and exhibit effective decision making skills.
Desirable criteria
  • • Understanding of risk management/clinical governance.

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of supervising and mentoring other clinical staff
  • Able to implement change and innovation
