Leukaemia and BMT Clinical Fellow

Clinical Fellow Post (ST3-5)

Job overview

This whole time Leukaemia and BMT Fellow post is based in the Centre for Clinical Haematology which is located at the City Hospital Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.  This post is suitable for candidates who have completed their Haematology training as a post CCT fellowship, or alternatively as an Out of Programme Clinical Training post (OOPT) for those who have already completed initial training and are at least at ST5 level. The post aims to provide specialist training in the management of patients with acute leukaemia (ALL and AML) and also haemopoietic progenitor cell transplantation for individuals with a major interest in these areas.  This OOPT post intends to provide the extensive training in all aspects of acute leukemia and haemopoietic progenitor cell transplantation. Following successful completion of this training and satisfactory assessment the Fellow will be deemed to fulfill the standards required by JACIE as an accredited transplant physician. This specialist training thus exceeds the basic transplant training already provided within the CCT for Haematology.

Main duties of the job

This post is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with UK experience in Haematology at StR level keen to gain further BMT/Leukaemia experience, or for post-CCT trainees who wish to specialise in BMT/Leukaemia. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in research and contribute to the management of patients in clinical trials. There will be the opportunity for independent audit and research. The post holder will be allocated an Educational Supervisor for the duration of their training who will be responsible for ensuring that a Personal Learning Plan is drawn up and that all training needs and competency assessments are met. Applicants will need at least 2 years' experience in Haematology, MRCP, and will preferably have at least their FRCPath Part 1. Working for your organisation Applications are invited for this excellent training opportunity in all aspects of the management of patients in these disease areas. This is a Leukaemia/BMT fellowship to join the team at Nottingham University Hospital Trust. We are an enthusiastic and friendly department with extensive experience in stem cell transplantation/leukaemia.
