Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your work will be varied and interesting, encompassing the full development life-cycle for interfacing, from analysis/design through to post-implementation support. The Trust's current Integration Engine is based on Rhapsody, but candidates with experience in other integration engine technologies will be considered.

Essential criteria

A relevant IT degree at MSc level or above, or equivalent technical qualification & experience (equivalent experience = a minimum of 3 years' working in a relevant technical role of sufficient seniority)

Desirable criteria

ITIL Foundation Level Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

Familiar with NHS Hospital Information systems with extensive knowledge of the Patient Administration System and Interfaces.
At least 5 years’ experience of interface development within a structured environment
Has highly advanced/specialist knowledge of healthcare IT communication standards including HL7 v2.
Highly experienced in using an Integration Engine to design, build and test interfaces.
Considerable practical experience working with relational databases, and SQL.
Demonstrable team leadership experience.

Desirable criteria

Practical knowledge of ITIL and ISO9002 standards (or other equivalent Quality Management Systems).
Experience developing interfaces that transform messages via Mapper Definition Files and JavaScript filters using the Lyniate Rhapsody integration engine.
Experience of working with XML messages.
Experience of working with HL7 FHIR messages in JSON format.

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria

Excellent verbal and written communication (-1 for spelling mistakes, -1 for grammatical mistakes, -2 for unanswered questions, -2 for unclear/confused answers, -5 for obvious use of AI to complete the application)
Experience of writing test plans and design specifications, and able to produce these to a high standard.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£49.50 for enhanced and £21.50 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay).
