Senior Health Care Assistant, Adult Critical Care

Adult Critical Care are looking to employ a motivated and conscientious person to join our friendly and dynamic multi professional team caring for critically ill patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

The person will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure in what can be a distressing environment. They will be able to prioritise and manage their own workload. They will be assisting the registered nurse with patient care and will perform housekeeping duties to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the unit. Adult Critical Care provides the highest quality of care in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

It is a requirement of this post that candidates are able to work flexibly to meet service needs.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, carry out nursing procedures following verification of competency and assist with the care and treatment of patients. This will include: assisting with meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients which will include washing/bathing, oral care, escorting to toilet, assisting with bedpans/commodes, making beds and dealing with dirty linen in accordance with procedures. 

Full time  / Part time hours considered

 

Person specification

Numeracy and literacy level 2

Essential criteria
  • Numeracy and literacy or GCSE equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2/3 OR Equivalent in health and social care

Relevant previous experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in providing personal care within a health or social care setting
  • Demonstrates knowledge and awareness of role related clinical skills and proceduresres
Desirable criteria
  • care certificate competence
  • experience of providing care in a hospital setting
  • evidance of professional development

competence with equipment medical and ICT

Essential criteria
  • Equipment use for moving and handling/use of ICT Microsoft Word
Desirable criteria
  • ICT computer competence and equipment mandatory training

communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates Ability to pass on information accurately
  • Demonstrate an approachable manner and good interpersonal skills

  • Experience of dealing with various patient groups
