Job overview

This post is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with UK experience in Haematology at StR level keen to gain further myeloma experience, or for post-CCT trainees who wish to specialise in myeloma. Duties will primarily cover all aspects of the care of patients with myeloma, AL amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders including diagnosis, primary therapy and relapse therapy. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in research and contribute to the management of patients in clinical trials. There will be the opportunity for independent audit and research.

Main duties of the job

 

This post is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with UK experience in Haematology at StR level keen to gain further myeloma experience, or for post-CCT trainees who wish to specialise in myeloma. Duties will primarily cover all aspects of the care of patients with myeloma, AL amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders including diagnosis, primary therapy and relapse therapy. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in research and contribute to the management of patients in clinical trials. There will be the opportunity for independent audit and research.

The post holder will be allocated an Educational Supervisor for the duration of their training who will be responsible for ensuring that a Personal Learning Plan is drawn up and that all training needs and competency assessments are met. Applicants will need at least 2 years’ experience in Haematology, MRCP, and will preferably have at least their FRCPath Part 1.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment
  • MRCP
  • FRCPath part 1
Desirable criteria
  • Higher degree

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of two years post graduate general professional training involved with hospital based direct patient care, at least 12 months of which should be concerned with acute and unselective medical take.
  • 2 years of experience of working in haematology in the UK
  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
Desirable criteria
  • Extra curricular activities/achievements relevant to Haematology
  • Published research in a relevant field.
