Job overview
An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time, permanent Orthotist, with post-graduate experience, to join the in-house Orthotics department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. It is primarily a clinical role treating both inpatients and outpatients in a variety of clinics.

Main duties of the job
The Orthotics Department is based within an acute Trust that includes a Major Trauma Centre and a Spinal Injuries Unit, offering exposure to a diverse and often complex patient population.
The successful candidate will:

Deliver care across a range of outpatient clinics, with adequate time allocated for assessments.

Provide dedicated support for inpatient services on the wards.

Work closely within multi-disciplinary teams, participating in joint clinics such as:

Diabetic Foot
-
Neurology
-
Paediatrics
-
Complex Footwear
-
Spinal
-
The department benefits from an on-site, fully equipped workshop staffed by six skilled technicians, ensuring excellent support for clinical staff. All Orthotists participate in weekly in-service training, have protected CPD time, and are encouraged to contribute to service development within both the department and the wider therapies and rehabilitation pathways.

10 Orthotists

2 Orthotic Assistants

6 Technicians

6 Administrative Staff
Facilities include an on-site workshop with CAD-CAM technology, including a Rodin scanner, iPad scanner, and milling machine. Clinical work will be primarily based at the Queen’s Medical Centre in a newly built, custom-designed department, and at the City Hospital Campus, some work within the National Rehab Centre and community work my be required. - BSc Honours or equivalent in Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Currently registered with the Health & Care Professions Council
- Evidence of Orthotics post-graduate training relating to Orthotics
Training
Desirable criteria
- Clinical educators course undertaken
Experience
Essential criteria
- Possession of specific knowledge, technical skills and experience in varied areas inOrthotics
- Experience of treating inpatients
Desirable criteria
- Experience of under taking audit
- Experience of treating inpatients in an acute trust
Communication and Relationship Skills
Essential criteria
- build and maintain Evidence of effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team and external manufacturers
