A full-time (10PA) Consultant Post in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHAN) at Nottingham Children's Hospital, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
This post has been created by converting a locum consultant post to a substantive post.
The successful applicant will join 4 existing consultant colleagues in the PGHAN team (3 substantive and one locum).
Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition service within the Nottingham Children's Hospital at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust provides secondary and tertiary care for more than 2.3 million total population; 450,000 children and young people across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Specialist clinics provided by our team are:
General paediatric gastroenterology
Inflammatory bowel disease
Intestinal failure and nutritional support (including children and young people on home parenteral nutrition)
Specialist liver clinics done jointly with visiting colleagues from Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Leeds Children's Hospital
Transition clinics with the adult gastroenterology team (on QMC and Nottingham City Hospital sites)
Polyposis clinics (for CYP with genetic familial diagnoses)
Coeliac disease
There is a specialist Nutritional Support Team embedded within the main PGHAN team to support CYP on parenteral nutrition across all areas of the Children’s Hospital
We support colleagues with expertise in paediatric gastroenterology based in the District General Hospitals across the region as part of an informal network. Our plan once these two posts are appointed to is to formalise the network with regular virtual educational sessions and outreach clinics across the region.
