Following an organisational change within the pharmacy department this exciting opportunity has become available. We are looking for a enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to lead the surgical pharmacy team within NUH.
In this role you will manage a large team of specialist and rotational pharmacists, medicines management technicians and medicines management assistants to deliver excellent care across the surgical pathways.
You will act as a clinical role model within the team, delivering direct patient care at an expert level and will form part of the Pharmacy Clinical Management Services Team. You will drive the development and delivery of the highest quality of pharmaceutical care and be supported by the Pharmacy Department and Care Group Leadership Team to continually improve our service.

In this role you will:
Lead and manage the clinical pharmacy service within the Surgery Care Group.
Line manage the team of Specialist Clinical Pharmacists.
Provide an expert, patient-facing, clinical pharmacy service within the Care Group acting as a clinical pharmacist role model.
Support the Care Group with all matters relating to medicines such as governance and safety. Demonstrate compassionate leadership, inspiring and motivating the team.
Form part of the Pharmacy Clinical Services Management Team and work with colleagues regionally and nationally to deliver excellent care.

To lead, manage and strategically develop clinical pharmacy and medicines management services to the Surgery Division, with support from a range of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and the wider MDT.
To line manage the Specialist Clinical Pharmacists and other team members as required within the Surgical pharmacy team.
To support the Specialist Clinical Pharmacists and other team members in the surgical care group in delivering the ‘best possible’ clinical pharmacy service within the assigned resources.
To provide an expert level patient-facing clinical service to one, or more clinical areas within the Surgical Care Group
Develop collaborative working relationships: to communicate, maintain professionally-driven working relationships and gain the co-operation of others.
Demonstrate leadership by inspiring individuals and teams to achieve high standards of performance and personal development.
Organise and deliver service objectives.
Deliver the education, training and development of others and promote a learning culture within the organisation.
Use research to deliver effective practice and identify and undertake research to inform practice.
To take full part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holidays duties and partake in general clinical pharmacy duties.
The post holder will be expected to spend time at both the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham City Campuses and National Rehabilitation Center.

Training & Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or MPharm.
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy or demonstrable equivalent experience.

- Leadership and/or management qualifications.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification (MSc or higher in clinical pharmacy or relevant clinical specialty)
- Qualified independent prescriber (and actively using in practice)
- Evidence of further training in advanced clinical skills
Professional registrations

- GPhC registered.
- Member of relevant national specialist pharmacist group.

- Plays an active role in a relevant national network / specialist pharmacist group.
Experience

- Broad knowledge base of a wide range of clinical areas.
- Extensive previous hospital experience (post-registration)
- In-depth pharmaceutical skills and knowledge within a relevant specialty (including highly specialist review of meds)
- Experience in project management (including department-wide roles) and evidence of completed outcomes.
- Effective liaison with relevant Trust level committees / groups.
- Experience of training and education of both pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Experience of MDT working.

- Experience of leading and delivering clinical pharmacy services to a speciality/cluster.
- Evidence of published research.
- Experience as a line manager/mentor.
Communication and relationship

- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with relevant senior clinicians, managers and stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written – must be able to communicate highly complex drug or medicine related information to prescribers, clinicians, patients, relatives, relevant Trust committees and other stakeholders. Patients may have language difficulties, physical or mental disabilities; other professionals may challenge advice.

- Experience of writing compelling business cases or case of need for service development.
- Experience of addressing large groups.
Analytical and Judgement skill

- Experience of assessing and minimising risk associated with service provision and within medication processes.
- Experience in making judgements involving highly complex facts, which require analysis, interpretation and options appraisal e.g. drug expenditure.
- Evidence of incorporating innovative and ‘best practice’ into current practice.
