Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is looking for a proactive and passionate Advanced Pharmacy Technician – Dispensaries to Lead the delivery of dispensary services across both the City and Queens Medical Centre campuses.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how we deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmacy services while helping drive quality improvements that impact thousands of patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Principal Pharmacy Technician - Operational services:

  • Proactively lead, organise, manage and develop the dispensaries at NUH
  • Contribute to strategy and implement service improvements in safety and operational efficiency and effectiveness whilst maintaining compliance with legislation 
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures and risk assessments reflect current practice, governance requirements and are implemented
  • To be a role model and develop and maintain working environments that encourage teamwork, mutual support and respect
  • To take part in the 7 day shifted rota and bank holiday duties

Person specification

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Specialist knowledge of pharmaceutical service procedures equivalent to Masters level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive demonstrable evidence of working at a senior level within the hospital pharmacy sector
  • Extensive specialist experience and knowledge of pharmacy operational services (dispensaries and stores) including performance and risk management.
  • Experience of managing teams/services including, line management, recruitment and selection, performance management and development/training of staff

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others as individuals and as a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Analytical and Judgement

Essential criteria
  • Experience of assessing and minimising risk associated with service provision and within medication processes
  • Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and make decisions but with sufficient awareness and political astuteness to know when to escalate issues and seek advice/direction
  • Able to identify, prioritise and solve problems

Planning and Organisation

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability in successfully implementing change, complex service improvement and change management projects
