Highly Specialist Physiotherapist: Paediatric Orthopaedics and Spines

Due to career progression and a skill mix review within the team, we are able to offer a permanent 0.6wte (22.5hours) Highly Specialist Physiotherapy post to support our Inpatient Paediatric Orthopaedic & Spinal pathway. We will accept candidates looking at a minimum of 0.5wte (18.75hours) too.
The successful post holder will be required to work Wednesday & Fridays, with the other day(s) to be discussed at interview. You will be included on the Orthopaedic and Spinal rostered weekend and out of hours rota as required.
Your role will be to provide specialist In-patient Physiotherapy care to children and young people following Orthopaedic and Spinal surgery. You will lead on our In-patient pathway predominantly supporting Physiotherapy, but also providing some day-to-day operational leadership to our Occupational Therapy team as required.
Where demand exceeds there may be a requirement for you to support some Out-Patient care alongside our Out-patient Paediatric MSK Highly Specialist Physiotherapists, but this will be reciprocal and you will work collectively to support the whole pathway.
Any training needs will be supported.

You will:
Work closely with the orthopedic and spinal MDT.
Provide trauma and elective in-patient physiotherapy management of children and young people with Orthopedic and Spinal conditions.
Have excellent communication and team working skills and will also have a passion about working with children.
Assist in the management and support of all other grades of staff within the wider paediatric physiotherapy team to provide input to Orthopedic and Spinal patients to allow you to develop your leadership, managerial and teaching skills.
Assist in the day to day operational leadership of the Orthopaedic & Spinal Occupational Therapy in-patient service
Support students on their clinical placements.
Have enthusiasm for the management and service development of the paediatric Inpatient Orthopaedic & Spinal service.

The Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). We provide In-patient and out-patient care for children up to the age of 19 years old.
With 97 beds, we care for around 40,000 children each year from Nottinghamshire and beyond, treating a full range of conditions, including planned and emergency treatment and surgery, Burns and Plastics, Neurological conditions, Oncology, Paediatric critical care, Renal conditions and transplantation, and Spinal and Orthopaedic care.
The Children’s Therapy team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence based care and innovative ways of working.

- BSc Hons (or equivalent) Physiotherapy
- Registered with the Health and Care Professional Council
- Recognised post-graduate training relevant to specialty preferably including MSc or completed modules

- Clinical Educators Course.
Experience

- Wide ranging and extensive experience of working within specialist area
- Knowledge of management processes to be able to provide first line management.
