Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist - medical inpatients

Are you passionate about Respiratory Physiotherapy and keen to enhance your specialist skills in this area? Then this could be the ideal job for you.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing band 6 or experienced band 5 to join the Respiratory Medicine Physiotherapy team in a permanent full time capacity. The successful candidate will work within an established and friendly team based at City campus of Nottingham University Hospitals.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is committed to further improving their respiratory skills and providing a high quality service for our patients. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong respiratory skills and clinical reasoning, as well as excellent time and caseload management. The ability to adapt and work flexibly is vital to this role. You must have also completed core band 5 rotations.
You will be part of the wider Medical Inpatient Physio team working alongside a specialist team of Physiotherapists, covering Respiratory, Oncology, Infectious diseases, Haematology, Renal and Palliative care. This will allow you to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated team.

- Assessing and treating patients as appropriate in all aspects of the respiratory pathway, including Respiratory Assessment Unit (RAU), Southwell, Fleming, Lister 2 & Berman 1.
- Providing supervision to more junior staff including Band 5 physios, support workers and students.
- Deputising for the Band 7 as appropriate.
- Working flexibly - including weekend, late shift and on call duties.
- Working alongside the band 7’s and seniors in the team to develop the service in line with evidence based practice.
- Supporting student placements within the team and provide formal and informal training.
- Supporting the wider Medical Inpatient team, working outside of respiratory should the need arise.
- Participating in out of hours duties (on-call, late shift and weekend duties)

The Physiotherapy service is part of the Therapies, Outpatients and Phlebotomy Services (TOPS) Directorate, within the Specialist Clinical Services care group. We are a diverse directorate of AHPs, nursing and support staff, employing around 1000 staff, working together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the directorate leadership team have AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

- This is a permanent full time band 6 post for 37.5 hours per week.
- Core hours are worked Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 16:00 although flexible working will be considered.
- Additional duties will include participation in on call and weekend working as well as a late shift (1-9PM). These are approximately 1-2 per month but many increase depending on clinical need.
