Patient Pathway Administrator

Band 3

Vacancies has arisen for the role of Patient Pathway Administrator to join the administration team in the Respiratory Department within the Medicine Division, City Campus. This is predominantly an audio typist role where speed and accuracy are essential.

We have 2 permanent vacancies each for 37.5 hours per week; working pattern is negotiable within the core hours on 0800 – 1700 Monday to Friday.

Working closely with the Specialty PAs you will be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of clinical correspondence as well as other secretarial duties. You will need to ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales escalating actions as required.

The majority of your day will be spent typing clinical letters so therefore you will need to be a fast and accurate audio typist with a sound knowledge of medical terminology. You will use your own initiative and respond to queries within and outside of the organisation with a professional manner to patients, relatives and staff.

You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills with a sound secretarial background. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure. The ability to manage your time and prioritise your workload whilst remaining patient focused is essential.

You must have RSA III word processing or equivalent and educated to GCSE ‘O’ Level standard with English Language grade C or above. Experience in the use of computerised systems including Microsoft packages is essential and hospital systems including Winscribe, Medway PAS, and NOTIS is also desirable.  Candidates with previous experience of working in a similar role within the NHS will be preferred though training can be given.
