Job overview

This is a opportunity for a 9 month secondment opportunity for a full or part time Band 5, Theatre Practitioner in Gynaecology Theatres

Are you an enthusiastic person who is passionate about patient safety and quality and would like to further develop your clinical skills?  

Ensuring the highest standards of care and safety within the Gynaecology Theatres and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams,  you will be working with a team of practitioners who care about the speciality and the patients they look after. 

We are a forward thinking team and find new ways of working and have been nominated for Innovation awards.

The team work Monday - Friday 7.30-6 over a 3 or 4 day week

 

Main duties of the job

Supporting colleagues in the Oncology and Benign fields of Gynaecology surgery.  Fostering a learning culture to ensure multi-disciplinary team working, to achieve agreed, common goals and outcomes across the service.

Flexibility, good communication and organisational skills are essential.

Enthusiasm and motivation to find ways to improve the  service.

Previous theatre experience is essential and an anaesthetic qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current level one NMC registration or HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Recognised and accredited anaesthetic qualification

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, project work

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation Competent and capable of using medical equipment Able to undertake patient manual handling manoeuvres and non-patient manual handling manoeuvres
Desirable criteria
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role eg, standing for long periods of time

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Theatre/recovery role
  • Previous theatre experience
Desirable criteria
  • Supervision of non-registered staff and students

Communication & relationship skill

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate team working and ability to work within a team
