This has created the opportunity for an  Associate Director of Nursing and AHP post within the Mental health care group. This post is open to both Nurses and AHPs

Our aim is to strengthen clinical  leadership with a focus on quality, safety, and, most importantly, the patient and carer experience as we tackle challenges and work towards sustainable improvement.

Main duties of the job

Reporting directly to the Care Group Nurse Director, this role offers the opportunity to influence, inspire, innovate, and enthuse both within your care unit, care group and the wider organisation with clear expectations around visibility, presence, and direct work with clinical teams in your portfolio.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder is accountable for the delivery and continuous improvement of practice within a Care Unit which is part of an overall care group providing a wide range of services. The key priority being to ensure we provide safe services of excellent quality which is reflected in experience of those who use our services.

The post holder will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Care Unit and will ensure that all risks arising from this portfolio are managed in line with Trust management policy and national guidance.

The post holder will provide leadership to the nursing and AHP workforce for the delivery of the professional Nursing and AHP agenda within the Care unit and deputise for the Care Group Nurse Director providing care group wide support.

The post holder will have specific leadership responsibilities for the services within the Care Unit.

The post holder will provide leadership to the clinical workforce for the delivery of the professional nursing and AHP agenda within the care unit and deputise for the Care group Nurse Director providing care group wide support.

Provide leadership in driving the Infection Prevention Control agenda and working closely with subject matter experts.

Accountable for monitoring standards of professional practice by working regularly in clinical areas alongside staff providing patient care, ensuring care is provided to a high standard, responding effectively to any failings, and monitoring corrective action with clinical leads and managers.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Essential Qualification

Essential criteria
  • First level nurse(RMN/RNLD)/AHP qualification with current NMC or HCPC UK registration
  • Post-graduate training or experience of leadership / management
  • MSc and / or equivalent clinical experience that recognises highly developed and complex levels of knowledge
  • Evidence of continuing personal development

  • Significant operational nursing /AHP or leadership plus experience in a complex healthcare organisation
  • Significant evidence of nursing / AHP leadership role in a healthcare setting
  • Multi-agency teamwork
  • Substantial experience of working at a senior level including managing changing and introducing new ways of working in a complex environment
  • Experience of a multi professional collaboration at a senior level
  • Experience of senior management at an operational level in a complex environment with diverse situations and management and change management
