Job overview

Due to substantial investment, we are now in an exciting position to substantially recruit to the CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team and the Liaison Teams as part of the Urgent Care Provision.

There are multiple roles covering both the CAMHS Crisis Team which covers Nottingham City and County and the CAMHS Liaison Services in the Nottinghamshire Hospitals. Note: the successful applicants may be asked to cover both areas, although will specialise in one.

Main duties of the job

The main aspects of the role will include:

Promoting and delivering evidence based interventions in line with NICE guidelines to meet the needs of young people in crisis. 
Work with complex young people and their families and help to contain a crisis situation through effective assessment, formulation and treatment. 
Providing support and leadership to junior practitioners alongside Clinical Leads to undertake the therapeutic work that places the young person at the heart of their care.
Linking in with the inclusion and involvement work with young people who have used the service to ensure that it is service user co-produced and meeting the needs of the families in crisis.
Establishing pathways, building links to services and working alongside the Clinical and Operational Leads to promote the service.
Designing and delivering appropriate leaflets or tools that can be used with young people and families to enable them to self manage their mental health.
There will be an expectation of delivering training and consultation to staff, as well as helping to jointly formulate the role of the team alongside wider needs and support networks using a therapeutic base.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holders will promote and develop clinical excellence within the CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment and CAMHS Liaison teams to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people within Nottinghamshire through sound evidence-based approaches. 

This role will support the delivery of high quality and safe patient-centred care, by working as a senior member of the team, both supporting with and actively working with the most complex cases on the team caseload.

You will be required to work closely with the Clinical and Operational Leads for the team to ensure quality and excellence in service provision.

A key element of the role will be to support the development and sustaining of a positive working culture within the team and the broader service to support clinicians in feeling valued, listened to, supported and provided with clinical learning opportunities.

There will be an expectation for you to carry out audits as required in order to evaluate quality of care provision and to formulate improvement plans as needed.

A working knowledge of risk assessment, safeguarding procedures, experience of working with the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act is essential.  Experience of working with young people experiencing mental health difficulties is essential.

As a Senior Specialist CAMHS Liaison Practitioner, you will work as part of an MDT to assess, formulate and support young people and their families when they attend hospital and require access to mental health support. Practitioners will then offer targeted follow up interventions in a range of therapeutic modalities and training will be provided to help staff continue to build their careers. As a Band 7 you will help other practitioners, both within the CAMHS Team and the acute hospitals to risk assess, formulate and work collaboratively to provide sensitive and supportive time critical input.

As a Senior Practitioner in CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment, you will be working in a team to cover the urgent and emergency mental health needs of young people and their families across Nottingham City and County. The role will entail leading in clinical discussions and formulations within the team and with other professionals both in and outside of CAMHS.

Close support from the Clinical Leads and Operational Lead, who will take overall responsibility for leadership, allowing this role to focus on the delivery of therapeutic interventions.

Training opportunities are available, including CBT, NVR and DBT.

We recognise that staff wellbeing is paramount when working in such demanding clinical areas. We provide 6 weekly managerial supervision, MDT Forums, Case Formulation, Group Reflective Supervision and mandate monthly clinical supervision.

Essential for the role:

You must be an RMN, RNLD, Allied Health Professional or Registered Social Worker and hold current registration, have considerable experience of working with young people and/or with acute mental health problems in an acute, crisis or liaison setting.

Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills.

  • Appropriate professional registered qualification e.g. RMN, Social Worker or equivalent qualification and membership of a registered statutory body e.g. NMC.

Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of working therapeutically at Band 6 (or equivalent/ above) with children and young people and families within a Community CAMHS setting using a range of clinical interventions appropriate to the needs of users of the service which are evidence based.
  • Extensive experience of working with young people and their families who have experienced a range of mental health problems (Including psychotic illness, eating disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders)
  • Care co-ordinating care plans
  • Extensive experience of risk assessment and risk management. To demonstrate ability to carry out highly competent clinical assessments including mental state assessments and risk assessments and develop a formulation of their problems.
  • An ability to apply a crisis management approach to complex clinical situations.
  • Extensive experience of multi agency working including education, health and social care.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision in relation to complex cases to junior staff and peers.
  • Delivering consultation within CAMHS and other agencies.
  • Experience of audit, research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates experience of providing care that is sensitive to the needs of minority groups
  • An ability to manage and contain the anxiety of other professionals
  • Extensive experience of involvement: communicating with service users/carers to reflect on and develop services.
