Job overview

To provide a highly specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and a range of interventions for groups or individuals. Using highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and recognised models of practice in order to maintain a highly quality service and develop services as required.

 To work as part of the health team based at Clayfields House and to work closely with both the Operational Lead and the Physical Healthcare Lead. To work alongside Clayfields House care staff to implement the secure stairs framework and take a role in supporting case management of Children and Young People.

 

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.  
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies. 

Main duties of the job

You will work within a complimentary Multi- Disciplinary Team providing care and treatment to Children and Young people  with a range of complex needs and behaviours residing in a Secure Childrens' Home (SCH). The role will provide specialist assessments of needs, formulation, advice, consultation, education and signposting to young people, their families/carers and other members of the MDT.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       To manage and develop specialist assessments, treatment plans, delivery and evaluation of interventions for a complex caseload of service users using a person- centred approach.

·       To plan, organise and monitor complex programmes and therapy plans implemented by the post holder and others.

·       To utilise core and highly specialist occupational therapy skills to meet the complex needs of individuals.

·       To utilise highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory, frames of reference and models of practice to develop clinical practice in this area of work.

·       To utilise appropriate formal assessment tools to assess needs and measure outcomes.

·       To provide expert skills and advice underpinned by evidence and values- based practice supported by service development.

 

·       To provide clinical OT leadership in the work area ensuring the provision of a needs led, user and carer- focused service.

 

·       Provide highly specialist clinical advice and promote the role of OT to meet the occupational performance needs of service users.

 

·       Contribute to service development and alert managers to resource issues which impact upon service delivery so as to identify gaps and formulate an action plan.

Essential criteria
  • You will be expected to use a keyboard/computer on a daily basis to input data/reports/assessments.
  • You may need to be able to drive i.e. attending meetings .
  • There is an occasional requirement to exert light to moderate physical effort for several short periods or one larger period during working hours e.g. driving, managing heavy doors etc .
  • Working in a secure environment with access to keys.

Qualifications-Academic Craft/Professional

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Evidence of further training to master level or equivalent experience.
  • Assessment of Motor and Process skills calibration/sensory integration theory /vocational rehabilitation s
  • A range of assessment tools both formal and informal.
  • Current OT interventions and models of practice.
  • Risk assessment/risk management.
  • Person -centred approaches
Desirable criteria
  • Highly specialist skills specific to CAMHS, working with Children and Young people

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of further training to master level or equivalent experience
  • Assessment of Motor and Process skills calibration/sensory integration theory /vocational rehabilitation evidence of specialist skills development
  • Teaching/presentation skills

Experience

  • Significant post qualification experience
  • Supervision/supporting staff
  • Facilitating a range of group and individua activities

  • To undertake relevant mandatory training and keep it up to date
  • CPD and maintaining HCP registration
  • • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
