Main duties of the job
Due to significant investment as part of the NHS Long Term Plan ambitions, we are delighted that we are now able to develop the psychological provision within the Nottinghamshire Perinatal Mental Health Services.
Nottinghamshire Perinatal Mental Health Team is a multidisciplinary and well-established service providing a tailored approaches to meet the mental health needs of women and their families in the perinatal period. You will have opportunity for direct one to one, and group based therapeutic work with women experiencing a wide range of mental health problems, often relating to complex trauma or attachment difficulties. You will also have opportunity for indirect working, supervision, consultation and training to both colleagues, and the wider maternity system. The service is also seeking to develop psychological interventions across multiple pathways, and you will be invited to contribute to innovative service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Perinatal Mental Health Services in Nottinghamshire is expanding. We are keen to recruit Clinical Psychologists who are passionate about the emotional wellbeing of women in the perinatal period and their infants. We are keen to develop services by offering either full time or part time hours as either a 7/8a preceptorship post or 8a clinical psychology post. For those interested in Band 7 positions we would encourage applications from those who are more recently qualified or about to qualify. For Band 7 applicants we are able to offer progression to Band 8A on completion of a portfolio of competencies.
You will have opportunity to undertake initial assessments and direct one to one and group based therapeutic work with women experiencing a wide range of mental health problems, often relating to complex trauma or attachment difficulties. You will also have opportunity for indirect working, offering supervision, consultation and training to both colleagues within the MDT, and the wider maternity system. The service is also seeking to develop psychological interventions across multiple pathways within and between services, and so you will be invited to contribute to innovative service design and improvement.
Specific banding requirements are within the attached documents for Band 7 or Band 8a applicants.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the Health Professions Council
- Experience of working with women and their families who have a range of complex mental health difficulties
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management which inform clinically competent assessments including mental state, risk and the development of a formulation of difficulties/problems.
- Experience of caseload management, including working with clients with a wide range of mental health difficulties
- Experience of developing and delivering specialist training packages regarding mental health and risk
- Experience and competence in providing consultation and liaison to a wide range of professionals.
- Experience of MDT work and effectively working within other disciplines.
- Experience of providing evidence-based interventions for users of the service.
- Experience of working systemically within a mental health setting and experience of multi-disciplinary and agency working including health and social care
- Experience of providing clinical supervision in relation to complex cases to junior staff and peers.
- Experience of audit, research and analytical skills
- Demonstrates experience of providing care that is sensitive to the needs of minority groups.
- Experience of involvement: communicating with service users and key stakeholders to reflect on and develop services

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good Honours degree in Psychology giving eligibility for Graduate membership of the BPS
- Post–graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the B.P.S., and giving eligibility for membership of Health Care Professions Council HCPC
- The post holder must be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
