Job overview

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust.  This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period.  This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust and have not been an employee of the Trust in the previous 3 years.  This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

As a result extra investment that came into Mental Health services as part of the NHS Long term Plan, we are excited to be able to expand and transform what we offer to this service user group and their families.  

We are looking to recruit 1 full time Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner working as part of the Personality Disorder Hub, working within the LMHT's across the City. There will be an expectation that you will be able to work and travel across the whole of the area whilst also travelling to Mandala Centre as required. However, you will be based at a named LMHT for the majority of your time.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner primarily delivering SCM (Structured Clinical Management) to clients on an individual and group basis (training will be provided as required). You will be expected to undertake assessment and formulation work for clients who meet the criteria for the personality disorder pathway within the LMHT caseload, as well as undertaking time limited case management with the aim of supporting clients to access evidenced based psychological interventions.

You will also be expected to support the wider LMHT in working with and managing clients with complex emotional needs. This will include providing some elements of training, consultation and supervision to the LMHT as well as being involved in MDT's and case discussions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday.

We have 1 positions available, covering the LMHT's in the City. There is an expectation that you would be able to be flexible as required and cross cover amongst all of the LMHT's. 

This position is for Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse (RMN) or AHPs.

You will provide SCM to the LMHT caseload as well as undertaking other short-term pieces of assessment and formulation work whilst providing training, consultation and supervision to LMHT colleagues. Whilst you will be embedded within the LMHT's, your line management and supervision will come from the PD Pathway Hub. Depending upon future funding, there may be opportunities for further training in other forms of treatment/therapy for clients with personality difficulties.

  • Ability to work to meet the needs of the service
  • Able to effectively transport self between bases which may be located in different parts of the county
Desirable criteria
  • You must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to use a car for work purposes however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional Qualification (Mental Health/Learning Disabilities/OT/Social Worker) to degree level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of post registration clinical practice, development, and training.
  • Maintains current registration with the NMC or equivalent statutory body.
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate continued professional development to maintain professional registration.

Training

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery.
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration training in working with clients who have complex emotional needs / personality disorder.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of the nursing 6 c’s
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of national and local issues impacting of nursing care
  • Understanding of what influences the potential development of complex emotional needs / Personality Disorder
