Job overview

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist/ NMP in the CAMHS Children Looked after and Adoption team.

This team supports children and young people up to 18 years old who are looked after or adopted and may be living away from their birth parents, in the care of Nottinghamshire County Council.

This role will primarily involve assessment and co-ordination of ongoing support to children and young people accepted into the service from social workers, whom may be in and out of the county along with Adoption East Midlands and adoptive parents. young people are also welcome to make referrals themselves. Working closely with the team and network this role will ensure complex young people are offered the continuity and specialist they require. It is not an " essential" requirement for the post holder to already hold the NMP training/ status it will be a clear expectation that the close candidate will take on this training and balance this within their role, offering a balance of consultation, assessment and direct work within their role. whilst working closely with the MDT and in particular the Consultant psychiatrist.

The post holder will promote and develop clinical excellence within the team to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people within Nottinghamshire through sound evidence-based approaches holding a trauma informed approach at all times.

Main duties of the job

Our core purpose is to work with children and young people whom are look after and adopted within Nottinghamshire, may also be placed in Nottinghamshire City and their families/carers, who may be experiencing emotional and mental health disorders that have a significant impact on the child's development and cause distress to the child and/or their carers. We aim to improve the mental health of all children and young people with the provision of a timely, integrated, high quality, effective, multi-disciplinary county wide service.

We work with children and young people up to 18 years old who are looked after and living away from their birth parents, in the care of Nottinghamshire Children's Services. They may be living with foster carers or in residential care.

We will also offer specialist consultation and support to children and young people who have been adopted and their families. with a highly specialised team supporting consultation, assessment and treatment to ensure that a trauma informed lens and trauma informed training is offered to networks in many contexts and in many cases direct work with young people to prevent placement breakdown and hospital stays. we want to provide networks and young people with a clear narrative and understand of what the young person is experiencing and why. It is important to ensure education and support can be given around Trauma and Attachment and the lasting impact of these experiences.
