 Landmarks is an independent specialist college for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. The college prides themselves on delivering “high quality specialist education and support to maximise our learners life opportunities”. 

An opportunity has arisen for you to take on the role of ‘Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist’ within a thriving therapeutic multidisciplinary team based at the different sites across South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. 

You will be working with a fixed caseload in an innovative and integrated way to ensure the learners thrive in their chosen subjects. You will be supporting your SLT colleagues at college and collaborating closely with the therapeutic team leader. 

You will also be part of a large speech and language therapy team with forward thinking, enthusiastic individuals who work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disability across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire within the Mental Health Specialist Services Directorate and Community Forensic Directorate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

Learners attend Landmarks College to develop their independence skills and employability. Your role is to support the individual and the college in this process. The Landmarks therapeutic multidisciplinary team work in an integrated manner (alongside teaching and support staff) to implement positive outcomes in a functional manner.

You will be leading on Speech & Language Therapy provision at Landmarks in collaboration with the therapeutic team leader. You will be working with a fixed case load with clear targets and outcomes for the individual and their environment.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       Lead on assessment, targets setting and reviews for individuals within the college context and the individual’s EHCP.

·       Collaborate with teaching and support staff on lesson planning.

·       Provide individual and group therapy where it is specified in the individual’s EHCP.

·       Lead on the SLT specific plans and reviews.

·       Lead on collecting outcome measurements in education and therapeutic contexts.

·       Provide clinical supervision to your SLT colleagues.

·       Attend SLT specific leadership meetings and collaborate with your professional lead on the Speech & Language Therapy specific developments at Landmarks.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check.

Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

  • Portfolio of relevant post qualification CPD highly including specialist knowledge of professional interventions and evaluations.

Experience

  • Working experience of assessing and managing a complex caseload with young people and/or adults with profession specific needs in specialist area
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessment and ability to ensure effective risk management strategies within specialism.
  • Experience of effective multi-disciplinary/agency working and established interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Experience of designing and delivering different learning and development opportunities for staff teams.
  • Experience in developing evaluation / audit tools and resources as part of profession/multi-professional team
  • Experience of leading the clinical and professional development of others including students
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading / managing project work.
  • Experience of research, audit, service evaluation and/or quality improvement projects – setting up, evaluating, reporting and application
  • Identifies clinical risks and carries out MDT/ Trust Risk assessments and formulation for individuals, groups or services highlighting needs
  • Experience of collaboration across teams, services, and other stakeholders outside of the Trust
