Job overview

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and skilled Clinical Physiologist to join our welcoming and forward-thinking Cardiovascular Diagnostics Team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a varied and rewarding role that spans both invasive and non-invasive cardiology, offering excellent scope for professional growth and specialisation.

You will be part of a supportive department with a strong reputation for training and development, where staff are encouraged to pursue further qualifications such as BSE, BHRS, or equivalent. The team is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative working environment.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has a solid grounding in non-invasive cardiac diagnostics and is confident in ECG interpretation and teaching.
  • Is eager to expand their expertise into specialist diagnostics and advanced invasive procedures.
  • Values mentorship and continuous learning, with access to structured training pathways and professional exam support.
  • Enjoys working in a dynamic setting with opportunities to rotate across specialities before choosing a focus area.
  • Is ready to take on managerial responsibilities, supporting junior staff and contributing to service development.

The department operates a compressed 4-day working week, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm, promoting work-life balance while maintaining excellent service delivery.

Working for our organisation

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
