Job overview

We are currently seeking to recruit a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with an interest in Urogynaecology to join the Women and Children’s Division at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join a team of fifteen Consultants providing services to the local population within Mansfield and Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood.

The successful candidate will provide support and development in our urogynaecology service as well as further development of the perinatal pelvic health service. 

The appointment will help to continue to provide excellent intrapartum care, support and training within the on call component of the post, meeting the requirements of CNST as well as the Ockenden report.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview (Portfolio Pathway applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the time of application).
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent (‘equivalence’ must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
  • Advanced Labour Ward Practitioner ATSM
Desirable criteria
  • Urogynaecology ATSM or equivalent experience
  • An additional ATSM that would complement the existing skills within the department

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience in obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan
  • Ability to maintain clinical credibility and authority with a multi-professional team including senior trainees
Desirable criteria
  • Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme

Teaching

Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable ability as a teacher with evidence of training for the role
  • MOET or PROMPT instructor
  • Education Supervisor training

Management

Essential criteria
  • Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of admin e.g. rota organisation
  • Evidence of MDT experience
  • The potential to develop management and leadership skills

Research and Audit

Essential criteria
  • Ability to convert research evidence into clinical practice
Desirable criteria
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to be Lead Researcher

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
  • Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary Team within the Maternity Service and wider Trust Flexible
  • Commitment to patient safety and risk management culture
  • Experience in protocol and guideline development
