Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

The Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a cornerstone of excellence in respiratory care. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking department that plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary management of patients with both acute and chronic respiratory conditions.

As a key member of the team, you will be instrumental in shaping and delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across both hospital and community settings. You will contribute to the development of innovative patient pathways within the triage service, offering specialist nursing advice to both patients and colleagues. Your role will be central to ensuring timely access to care, supporting the Trust in meeting national waiting time targets.

You will use your advanced clinical assessment and communication skills to guide patients through diagnostic pathways, ensuring that all relevant clinical information is available to the multidisciplinary team. Your expertise will be essential in interpreting complex investigatory results and determining the most appropriate next steps—whether that be discharge, referral to a GP, or escalation to specialist services.

If you are passionate about respiratory care and ready to take the next step in your nursing career, we would love to hear from you.
