About Us: The Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit is a newly established area dedicated to providing efficient and effective emergency care. Our unit comprises 4 trollies, 5 armchairs, a procedure room, and 2 consultation rooms. Patients primarily come from the Emergency Department, selected based on predefined criteria related to their presenting complaints. Our mission is to deliver same-day emergency care and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, ensuring every patient receives timely and expert care.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Matron, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing their clinical skills and knowledge to meet the demands of our service delivery. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow professionally while making a significant impact on patient outcomes.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Inspirational, ability to motivate individuals and teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and confidence to discuss patient management with other members of the MDT
  • Ability to critique own practice
  • In-depth knowledge of specialist clinical area
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively and to work in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent liaison and negotiation skills
  • Commitment to personal and staff development and training
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
Desirable criteria
  • Confidence and ability to accurately assess and manage complex patient presentations to a high professional standard

Qualifications/Academic/Craft/Professional

Essential criteria
  • Registered with relevant healthcare professional body
  • Degree-level registration qualification OR equivalent level of knowledge and skill obtained through experience in accordance with specialty college/faculty and HEI guidance
  • Relevant teaching/supervising/mentoring experience
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant teaching qualification
  • Evidence of ability to work at Master’s academic level
