Job overview

Clinical Lead Dietitian – Critical Care!

This post will be offered as a Band 6 or Band 7 depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Clinical Lead Dietitian to join our dynamic team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role will lead the dietetic service within our 15-bed combined Level 2 and Level 3 Critical Care Unit at King’s Mill Hospital.

This is a pivotal role offering the chance to shape and deliver high-quality nutritional care in a complex clinical environment. The successful candidate will provide expert leadership, contribute to service development, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

We are seeking a registered dietitian with substantial experience in acute care, ideally with prior exposure to critical care settings. You should demonstrate strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

Applications are also welcomed from Band 6 Specialist Dietitians who are ready to take the next step in their career. For the right candidate, the post may be offered at Band 6 with appropriate support and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and manage the dietetic input into critical care services.
  • Provide expert clinical assessment and nutritional management for critically ill patients.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and students.
  • Contribute to service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to deliver integrated care.

Working for our organisation

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
