Are you looking for your next step supporting young people with mental health challenges? Are you a trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner looking for your next step up?

Buckinghamshire Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is looking to recruit qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner to join our team. 

Buckinghamshire MHST are one of the national trailblazer sites for this Department of Health and Department of Education project.

The team have now expanded their reach in Buckinghamshire with 8 teams working with primary, secondary schools and some further education settings. You'll join a team of EMHP and trainee EMHP Workers to support schools across the locality. To be successful you should have completed the 1 year HEE commissioned ‘Education Mental Health  Practitioner’ course.

The roles are full time but part time applications will be considered. 

This role is eligible for an incentive scheme of £3,500 paid at intervals over an 18-month period. All payments are pro-rata, non-pensionable and subject to a clawback clause. Please note that only employees external to Oxford Health NHS are eligible for this scheme. 

Main duties of the job

  • Assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with and giving respect to the education function of the setting in which the post-holder is deployed.
  • Work in partnership to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents/carers, families and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in an education setting with mild to moderate mental health problems
  • Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services
  • Supporting/facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing
  • Working with and within education environments to afford better access to specialist mental health services

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.
