Consultant Psychiatrist Aylesbury CMHT

NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

We are a responsive and innovative Foundation Trust that places our values of Caring, Safe and Excellent at the heart of everything we do. We take great pride in our staff and believe that investing in you is key to us achieving our vision of outstanding care delivered by outstanding people.

We work with a wide range of partner organisations to deliver care and support to people in their own homes and from a number of hospitals and community bases. We focus on delivering care as close to home as possible.

Job overview

Oxford Health is looking for outstanding candidates for this attractive opportunity to work in the Aylesbury Community Mental Health Team which is based at the Whiteleaf Centre, in Buckinghamshire.

We are looking for a 1.0 WTE consultant psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership to the Aylesbury CMHT. This post has become available in the CMHT due to a consultant moving to another area. The postholder will work alongside other consultants (total 4.0 WTE senior medical establishment including this post) within the CMHT. We would welcome applications from candidates who wish to work LTFT or flexibly, including those who would like to discuss a personalised/ split job plan.

The Trust is committed to high quality teaching and training for medical students, post graduate trainees in psychiatry, specialty doctors, students and other professionals. The consultant will provide direct clinical supervision and line management with opportunities to develop your skills in these areas.

Oxford is rated the top medical school in the world in THES ratings, and Psychiatry is rated by students as being the best specialty rotation on the course. Oxford has a track record of encouraging medical students to pursue psychiatry as a career, with 7% of graduates citing psychiatry as their first-choice career, equal highest of any UK medical school.

Main duties of the job

The CMHTs undertake non-emergency assessment and medium-long term treatment. They work alongside independent Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams. Referrals will soon be triaged by the Mental Health Gateway (a Single Point of Access) which operates independently from the CMHT providing comprehensive triage (including supporting information) prior to assessment. Staff within the CMHTs work to consultants and catchment areas that correspond as closely as possible to specific geographical areas and GP surgeries (PCNs), to allow maximum familiarity with these patients and better links with the corresponding GPs.

The CMHT provides recovery focused evidence-based treatment for patients with severe and enduring mental illness. Oxford Health is currently undergoing a wide-ranging piece of transformation work under the umbrella of the Community Mental Health Framework. This involves clearly defining the role of the CMHT and the interventions it offers in the evolving mental health landscape across primary and secondary care. Oxford Health has also developed a new set of Core Clinical Standards in order to provide a more flexible approach than was offered under CPA (mirroring work at a national level).

Oxford Health is an ambitious Trust dedicated to innovating, evaluating and implementing new treatments, procedures and services.

Working for our organisation

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

We strive to ensure that staff feel valued by the Trust  as they are truly pivotal in delivering better outcomes for our patients and service users. Our aspiration is to help to make Oxford Health the best place to work.  This Trust is clinician-led and provides the highest possible level of clinical expertise throughout its services. We pride ourselves on our service user involvement.

**ADDITIONAL BENEFIT PACKAGE **

We offer a £15,000 recruitment bonus and a relocation allowance up to £8,000 to eligible successful candidates (Ts & Cs apply)

We take great pride in our staff and believe that investing in you is key to us achieving our vision of outstanding care delivered by outstanding people.

As such we particularly welcome applications from clinicians who would like to negotiate dedicated PAs for clinical leadership, research, training or other areas of special interest.

This is a hugely exciting time for the Trust having recently achieved an OUTSTANDING CQC RATING and being one of just five mental health and learning disabilities NHS trusts in England to hold an outstanding rating.
