Are you a Newly Qualified Mental Health Nurse? Are you looking to work in Buckinghamshire?

We're recruiting 12 mental health nurses across Buckinghamshire in a number of our services. We're recruiting in Amersham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe.

We're recruiting across our: in-patients, urgent care, older adults mental health communities team and our low secure forensic inpatients ward Woodlands House. These teams work across Buckinghamshire supporting adults and older adults from 18 upwards with mental health challenges.

Main duties of the job

As a newly qualified Mental Health Nurse you will:

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to diagnose, assess, plan, and implement patient-specific programmes of care and interventions 
  • Undertake assessments using profession-specific clinical knowledge and skills under close supervision from a clinically experienced member of staff
  • Use a comprehensive range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to effectively communicate with patients, their families, and carers about complex and sensitive diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Manage your own time effectively and prioritise your caseload, ensuring comprehensive discharge and contingency plans are developed with relevant professionals

For roles in our community teams, Applicants must have a full valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We strongly encourage you to look at the 'Flyerprogramme' document attached which contains more information about the support you'll be offered during your first year.

For our urgent care and in-patient teams, we operate a 24/7 service 365 days per year; this involves working rotating shift patterns including 7-3pm, 1.30pm-9.30pm, 9pm-7.25am and a maximum of one long day within a 4-week period.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Day on Wednesday 23rd July 11:00am (exact times TBC) at the Whiteleaf Centre, Aylesbury. The day will involve group activity assessments and individual interviews.

Please note if you are based outside of the UK you will need to be fully qualified, have already passed your OSCE and have an NMC pin number in order to be considered for this role.
