Job overview

12 month maternity leave cover. 

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring, highly motivated & experienced Therapeutic Radiographers to join our friendly & welcoming team at the OUH Radiotherapy Centre @Swindon, a satellite of the Oxford Cancer Centre.    

Our purpose-built satellite unit in Swindon opened in October 2022, housing 2 Varian TrueBeam linacs with 6DoF couches and a GoSim Radiotherapy CT scanner. The satellite is an extension of the radiotherapy service at the Oxford Cancer Centre. It has its own, clinic rooms, planning suite, & MacMillan patient information area. It is located on the Great Western Hospital site. 

Patients are at the heart of what we do, and we will deliver a range of techniques including IMRT, VMAT, DIBH, IGRT & SABR. All grades are expected and encouraged to participate in these treatment & verification techniques.

We are proud of our strong culture of learning, education, and support and we offer a comprehensive induction programme. Our Practice Educator team can assist with professional development opportunities, & we strongly encourage all Radiographers to get involved in project, audit, & research work. There is access to CPD funding for both academic modules and conferences. We have 3 Radiographers in research posts & an expanding Consultant and Advanced Practitioner Radiographer team working in a variety of specialties.

Main duties of the job

To be primarily responsible for leading and managing a team of radiographers (3-4 staff) and co-ordinating the day-to-day clinical operations either of the CT scanner or designated treatment machine in accordance with the policies of the department and trust.

Manage a caseload of patients, ensuring patients have accurate and consistent planning and treatment. 

The post holder will work on a rotational basis through both pre-treatment and treatment.

Liaise with other disciplines to monitor and improve service.

Support and train members of the team to maintain and develop professional and personal skills and standards.

Assist the Pre-Treatment and Treatment Lead Radiographers and Radiotherapy Satellite Operational Manager in the implementation of change within the radiotherapy service.

Provide expert advice on pre-treatment/treatment procedures and treatment related side effects and their management to patients and their carers.

To liaise with other disciplines to ensure total coverage in all aspects of patient care.
