We are looking for experienced staff nurses who are passionate about working in a supportive learning environment and who are keen to progress to a band 6 role. 

 

Main duties of the job

We are excited to announce that Acute Cardiac Care (ACCU) within the Cardiology Ward has an exciting opportunity to join the specialist unit. ACCU is a 6 bedded unit located on the Cardiology ward, which also consists of 6 HDU beds, 13 side rooms and 3 bays. We care for all aspects of cardiac medicine including; Intervention, Electrophysiology, Structural and Adult Congenital.

We are looking for experienced staff nurses who are passionate about working in a supportive learning environment and who are keen to progress to a band 6 role or are already acting as a band 6 and want to experience working within the OUH.  You will act as senior cover on ACCU, managing your patients, supporting the other staff on the unit and managing the primary PCI pathway making active clinical decisions about the patients needs based on their ECG and background given.

Person specification

Quals

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in ACCU / minimum 2 years
  • Ability to manage the clinical area or ward efficiently and effectively
  • Supervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration and post basic students.
  • Significant experience at band 5
  • Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation.
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced life support certificate
  • Previous band 6 experience.
  • Proof of education at level 7
