Job overview
This role will require supporting our Dental Referral Co-Ordinator in the day-to-day operations of our Dental Referrals team within the Oxfordshire Community Dental Service.
The post holder will be a crucial part in the team to ensure the smooth and efficient processing of referrals but also involves dealing and actioning various queries from patients, carers, and professionals. Additionally, you would be expected to manage various administrative tasks to support the wider service, including our Senior Management Team.
While this will be your primary role, we also require that you provide support as a dental receptionist across our Dental Clinics. This could be to accommodate leave, sickness, or other absences should this be required. Your ability to adapt and step in as needed will be invaluable in maintaining our high standards of service.
Main duties of the job
- Strong administrative and reception experience, including use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and dental software.
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities (calls, patients, admin duties) while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and telephone manner, with experience interacting with patients (including those with additional needs).
- Team player with flexibility, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Previous NHS and dental environment experience, including handling cash and banking procedures.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
