The postholder will provide junior level clinical assessment and management of infants, children and young people presenting with acute medical conditions to Oxford Children’s Hospital with direct supervision and support from the senior medical team. Clinical duties include the assessment and management of patients referred by primary care, children presenting to the Children’s Emergency Department who require paediatric review, patients managed within the Children’s Clinical Decision Unit, and children admitted to the paediatric wards. There will also be opportunities to work within a paediatric specialty during the daytime.

The postholder will work at junior grade level within the acute and specialty paediatric rota, contributing alongside paediatric registrars/middle grade doctors within a consultant-led service. Consultant paediatric support is available at all times.

The Children’s Emergency Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital is a dedicated self-contained paediatric facility operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
