Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our Mental Health Reablement Team as an Assistant Therapy Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive, multi-disciplinary team delivering meaningful, recovery-focused interventions to adults experiencing mental health challenges.
The main aim of this role is to focus on mental health rehabilitation, engagement, and enablement to optimize service users’ ability to recovery and live meaningfully and enjoy a good quality of life.
Oxford City + NE Adult mental health team have lead the way locally in delivering this evidence base intervention led by a team of occupational therapists and experienced support staff providing mental health reablement. This team will provide short, intensive, activation focussed interventions to support service users to increase, reconnect to, or initiate activities of meaning to support recovery from a period of mental health distress.
You will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists to deliver short-term, intensive interventions that enable service users to re-engage with daily activities and rebuild confidence in their own homes and communities. The service provides both individual and group-based occupational therapy, supporting recovery through purposeful activity.
Main duties of the job
As a Reablement Assistant Therapy practitioner you will work alongside Occupational Therapy colleagues to deliver groups and work one to one with service users helping them identify and increase their activities of meaning and support their mental health recovery.
You will be part of the Mental Health reablement team based in one of Oxfords Adult Mental Health teams. You will have clinical supervision from a qualified Occupational Therapist, join in service training and meet regularly with therapy assistants from a range of mental health services.
Whether you are an experienced mental health support worker, a member of support staff looking to move into community teams or someone who is keen to step into mental health work, this is the role for you!
This small team will work closely together to support peoples to increase their activity levels and support their mental health recovery. With support and supervision you will be able to develop skills working individually with service uses, leading groups and completing patient led outcome measures.

Essential criteria
- A Levels and/or Health and Social Care NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Qualification related to Mental health issues.
- Training or education in Counselling/psychology.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of supporting people with mental health problems.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading groups and 1:1 intervention.
- Experience of working in a OT related setting.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- An understanding of the value of activity to personal wellbeing.
- Working knowledge of Recovery principles.
Desirable criteria
- Interest in/and understanding of psycho-social interventions.
