Are you looking for an opportunity to support children and young people with eating disorders as part of a specialist mental health team?

Oxford Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is seeking a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join the Oxfordshire Eating Disorder Team. This is a rewarding role within a supportive, multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, doctors, psychologists, dietitians, and support staff.

You will carry out assessments, develop care plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions for young people and their families. The role also includes risk assessment and management, providing psychoeducation, and working in partnership with other services to support more complex cases.

You will contribute to the clinical leadership of the team by supervising junior staff, supporting students, and taking part in service development activities. Regular clinical supervision and ongoing CPD are provided, including training in specialist eating disorder models.

This is a full time role,  other hours are available within core hours (8am–6pm). We have strong links with local universities and research teams, offering opportunities for learning, teaching, and professional growth.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver specialist nursing assessments and evidence-based interventions in collaboration with young people, families, and the wider multi-disciplinary team, in line with NICE guidelines.
  • Monitor and review care plans and clinical outcomes, manage physical health needs including cardiometabolic assessments, and safely administer medication according to NMC and Trust policies.
  • Provide supervision, support, and education to junior staff, students, and colleagues, while maintaining your own professional development and contributing to a learning culture.
  • Support service development by contributing to quality improvement, audits, research, and co-production initiatives within the team.
  • Offer professional consultation to external agencies, participate in team duty cover, and take on leadership responsibilities including deputising for senior team members when required.
