Main duties of the job
Main Purpose of the post:
- To work as a member of the costing team meeting the challenge of the NHS England (NHSE) ‘Future of Costing’ programme and all other costing developments as introduced to the NHS.
- To lead the annual National Cost Collection (NCC) and Education & Training returns.
- To assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statutory and non-statutory returns for both internal and external stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Lead the annual National Cost Collection (NCC) and Education & Training returns.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory and non-statutory returns for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Design, create, and implement changes to costing models to meet the 'Future of Costing' requirements.
- Develop monthly Service Line Reporting (SLR) and the Patient Level Costing model (PLICS).
- Provide expert costing guidance to all Clinical Divisions within the Trust.
- Maintain and develop the Power BI front end reporting tool to meet stakeholder needs.
- Benchmark services against similar organisations using available tools.
- Design and present financial training sessions to finance and non-finance staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- AAT Member with significant relevant post qualification experience
- Degree or equivalent relevant qualification
Desirable criteria
- Fully Qualified Accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
Experience/ Skills
Essential criteria
- Over five years’ experience working in a finance department of a large organisation, preferably within the NHS.
- The ability to frequently concentrate for long periods on complex calculations and information.
- Expert knowledge of the guidance that underpins NHS costing, National Cost Collections and education & training costs.
- Good analytical skills in handling large and complex data sets
Desirable criteria
- SQL script writing & Oracle financials use
- Working knowledge of NHSPS tariff
