Job overview
The post holder’s principal duties are based at the John Radcliffe and the Churchill (total of 10 PA) comprising a mix of 8.5 clinical PAs and 1.5 supporting PA’s. The clinical PA s require the appointee to perform a mixture of allergy and immunology clinics, with allergy predominating. The immunology clinics will focus on primary and secondary immunodeficiency while allergy clinics will be dedicated to immunotherapy, drug allergy, general allergy (inhalants, foods) and anaphylaxis. A separate PA is allocated for drug and food challenges.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder’s duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe & Churchill Hospitals, but it is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations. Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- MRCP or equivalent
- FRCPath Immunology or show evidence of equivalent qualification.
- Specialty Certificate Examination in Allergy or equivalent
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- CCT registration on GMC Specialist Register in Immunology OR Allergy within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview.
- Applicants that are UK trained, must be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
Desirable criteria
- Higher medical / scientific degree – MD, PhD/DPhil
Experience
Essential criteria
- General training in immunology & allergy to consultant level or equivalent
- High level of competence in diagnosis & management of allergy
- Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level and to manage complex clinical problems
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent leadership skills. Evidence of ability to lead a clinical team at the level of a consultant in a teaching hospital.
- Effective administrative and time management skills. Training in clinical management.
- Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork
- Good spoken and written English. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of formal and informal contributions to teaching and training.
- Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management and clinical audit activities
- Evidence of active interest and participation in research
