Job overview
The Deputy Operational Service Manager for Diagnostics will support the Operational Service Manager, who in conjunction with the Clinical Directors and with support of the senior team, are responsible for the operational management of services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring the efficient and effective day to day running of the Clinical Directorate and for the management of all clinical subspecialties.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced manager , currently working at or above Band 7, with recent and relevant experience in managing services in an acute Trust .
The post holder will be required to support the Diagnostics in the provision of a high quality service across all sites.
The role will provide leadership to the directorates to ensure the highest possible standards are achieved.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will provide senior leadership across the spectrum of the Directorate. Support the delivery of clinical services in conjunction with the senior Directorate Management Team. The post holder will support the Directorate to maintain financial balance, the development and implementation of service improvements including business cases and engaging with teams to ensure best quality care is provided.
The post holder will also be responsible for leading and delivering success across a number of key programmes within the Directorate and wider Division. These programmes will be vital in ensuring the Division can deliver its primary objectives and targets over the coming years and will encompass a wide range of topics, including productivity and efficiency, quality, workforce and clinical effectiveness.

Education and Experience
Essential criteria
- BSc Hons Degree or equivalent
- Post graduate management qualification or equivalent (or working towards this) t
- Evidence of other Continuing Professional Development, both formal and informal to post graduate level
- Membership of appropriate professional body and I or clinical interest group
- Budget management experience to include - evidence of responsibility for procurement of capital equipment, and management of revenue budg
- Highly developed, substantial and diverse clinical experience
- Minimum of five years of experience at management level
- Service management experience in an acute setting
- Experience of managing a large team delivering services in an environment that is complex, rapidly changing and resource constrained e
- HR management experience to include - evidence of managing multi professional groups, experience of the implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Ability to propose and implement Trust policies and procedures
- Awareness of current NHS priorities and its implications to an acute trust and the radiology service s
- Knowledge of working with different service delivery models
- Proven experience of service redesigns and change management
- Experience in the training and development of multi-professional staff group
