We are looking to recruit a forward thinking motivated practitioner (RN’s and ODP’s) at band 6 who would like to join our Cardio-Thoracic anaesthetic practitioner team, within Cardiothoracic Theatres at Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust.
The department has a full time vacancy within our Cardio-thoracic theatres. Working as part of the cardiothoracic anaesthetic team, looking after patients undergoing a variety of Cardiac and Thoracic procedures as well as procedures in our Cardiac Angiography Suite.

Main duties of the job
When working within cardiothoracic theatres you have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, achieving good outcomes with world wide innovative procedures, such as Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve and Complex Aortic Surgery. The Cardiac Angiography suite have a well-established TAVI programme and have recently started doing Mitra Clip and Tricuspid valve procedures, as well as a variety of electrophysiology procedures.
We provide a supportive working environment for you to develop the necessary skills to fulfil these cardiothoracic senior anaesthetic practitioner roles offering, preceptorship, mentorship and other educational opportunities.
This posts involve working an on call commitment to provide an out of hours emergency service and you will be expected to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills competencies within an agreed period of time before commencing on-call duties.
Candidates needing to be within 30 minutes travelling distance of the hospital to cover out of hour’s emergency work. If the candidate lives further away an on call room is available.

Are you an anaesthetic theatre practitioner that enjoys giving your best?
Do you look for a challenge every time you come to work?
As a member of the cardiothoracic anaesthetic team you will contribute by:-
1. Planning, delivering and evaluation of patient care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic anaesthetic.
2. Managing and co-ordinating the peri-operative team within direct clinical area.
3. Implementing local protocols and standards with members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team
4. Participate in clinical trials and research
5. Deputise for cardiothoracic anaesthetic sister as required
6. Providing expert clinical advice to nurses/ODP and members of the multi-disciplinary team
7. Maintaining appropriate stock levels and providing high standards of cleanliness.
8. Supporting learners.
9. Undertake quality assurance audits
10. support specific link roles
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
