Main duties of the job

Centralised Recruitment:

  • Supply Chain Operative (JR) - 37.5 hours per week, Permanent. Location - John Radcliffe Hospital

Supply Chain Operative (JR) :

The Operational team based at the John Radcliffe Hospital requires a Supply chain operative.

Ensuring that all non Pharmaceutical stock requirements are met to support patient care at the JR site. liaise with clinical staff and Escalate any issues that cannot be resolved locally and progress until resolved .   

The successful candidate needs to be able to work using their own initiative and as part of a team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Supply chain Operative At JR Site will be required to work Monday to Friday, as the service is a 5 day service. The successful candidate will be working closely with clinical staff and other members of the supply chain team.

Duties:

  • Ensure that access to the computerised traceability and stock management system is monitored and that the correct security procedures for access to the system are followed at all times in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 including GDPR and the Code of Practice on Confidentiality.
  • Responsible for placing orders, receiving, checking, safe storage, and correct distribution of all surgical consumable materials. The ward matron and team leaders will determine the levels of stored materials within the agreed budgets.
  • To ensure that all stock is stored according to the manufacturers’ storage recommendations.
  • To responsibly co-ordinate the ordering and delivery of high cost surgical consumable materials.
  • Checking on receipt of goods that items are correct and undamaged, recording this information via the computerized stock management system.
  • To respond to requests for all stores services, including arranging couriers and ensuring the security of storage boxes/containers and their direct return to NHS supplies and companies.
  • Ensure frequent stock rotation to minimize waste.
  • Ensure that storage areas are kept clean and tidy, using daily damp dusting and discarding and removing rubbish/cardboard packaging.
  • Organising and undertaking all annual materials management audits.
  • Pushing and pulling the Metal cages and heavy lift involved.

Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of dealing with customers, suppliers and /or the public
Desirable criteria
  • 12 months Materials management/IM system experience
  • Previous experience within the NHS/public sector
