Job overview

Performing a full range of carpentry & joinery and multi-skilled maintenance  work to a high standard, essential for the repair, maintenance and renewal to  building and furniture throughout the Powys Teaching Health Board and other places not owned by the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

We  are looking for a multi-skilled crafts worker: carpenter and joiner to join our estates team with general carpentry experience including the maintenance of fire doors.  

You will be required to undertake On-Call duties as part of the On-Call rota team ensuring emergency cover is provided for all of PTHB premises for emergencies.  For full details, please refer to the attached job description

Quals and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Literacy and Numeracy L2 or equivalent
  • Approved Indentured Apprenticeship / L3 City Guilds Qualification / Apprenticeship plus significant demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of a range of procedures for building and repair maintenance
Desirable criteria
  • Be conversant with and use all relevant fixed woodworking machinery within the Joiners Shop in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER Regulations 1998, Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. COSHH Regulations 2002

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within multi trades
  • Experience of working as a Carpenter & Joiner

Other

Essential criteria
  • Can travel throughout PTHB sites, have clean driving licence for use of company vehicle in the course or duties

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to lead work as part of a team and work unsupervised
  • Ability to supervise, train and mentor
  • Ability to provide quotes for repairs and maintenance
  • Ability to work independently

  • Organise materials, prioritise work to agreed deadlines
