Powys Teaching Health Board have an exciting opportunity for a Information Analyst to join the Data & Business Intelligence Team. 

This is a full-time fixed term position until the end of March 2026 within the Allied Health Professionals, Health Sciences and Digital Directorate 

The role is based in Bronllys Hospital, although agile working is encouraged and supported. Successful applicants must be able to occasionally travel and work on site, with a flexible approach to home working.

Main duties of the job

This role has a specific focus on supporting the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA )implementation project. The analyst will be responsible for warehousing of data from the EPMA system and meeting reporting requirements. The role involves creating and maintaining reports that provide valuable insights into the EPMA system usage, effectiveness, and any areas of improvement.

  • working directly with service users to understand their business requirements,
  • acquiring data from a variety of different systems,
  • managing the transition of data into the data warehouse,
  • Experience with SQL,
  • Experience of working with large datasets,
  • Advanced Excel skills, and
  • Experience of working with data visualisation tools such as SSRS or Power BI.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) with significant relevant experience in health information

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of data warehousing and relational databases
  • Good knowledge of legislation relating to data protection and the release of confidential information
  • Sufficient relevant experience in an information environment
  • Proven analysis and presentation skills, including excellent knowledge of software packages and advanced key board skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, SQL Analytical Services, SQL Reporting Services and ServicePoint
  • Proven IT skills in an analytical capacity
  • Structured programming skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Patient Information Systems
  • Working knowledge of NHS data standards and definitions
